Mount Shop Supporting The Drag Racing Community

For the 2017/2018 Season Finale, Mount Shop – leading under car specialists, have partnered with Pegasus Bay Drag Racing Club as our event host. Mount Shop have been long time signage sponsors and were excited to become further involved in South Island drag racing. Some of you may recognise Christchurch Mount Shop Branch Manager, Greg Mulholland, a fellow PBDRC racer.

He has raced for around 20 years and says he grew up at the track watching the likes of “Ron Collett and all those other guys that are no longer around”. In his time, Greg has raced a Torana, previously owned Brendon Shearing’s Monaro (a.k.a. Wild HQ) and more recently you may have seen him flying down the track in his silver 1969 Ford Capri. While he was building the Capri he maintained his involvement in drag racing by crewing for Chris Duncan throughout the past couple of seasons. Chris helped Greg with the build of the Capri, which has a Chev 383 engine, TH350 trans, is caged and has a half-chassis. After serious engine damage at the IHRA South Island Champs in October, Greg has been out for the remainder of this season. He says he has been busy “building a whole new engine” and whilst he hopes to be back as soon as possible, he doesn’t believe he will return this year.

Prior to sponsoring Greg, Mount Shop had already been involved drag racing sponsorship through Anthony Marsh of Marsh Motorsport, a good friend of their Managing Director Hemi Toia. Anthony runs both top fuel and top alcohol dragsters which he races in Auckland.

Mount Shop specialise in engine mounts, suspension bushes, ball joints, tie rod ends, air intake hoses, silicon hose, alloy bends, strut tops, sway bar bushes & units and all rubber/metal automotive parts. If you have any under car requirements head on down to 152 Carlyle Street in Sydenham and have a chat to Greg and his team, who are always keen to help members of the drag racing community.
